Keeping us all safe from COVID-19

Covid 19

We want to keep our Staff & Customers safe ...simple!

(whilst still providing you with cheap designer glasses, and the usual service you have come to expect from a fully qualified dispensing opticians)

Masks, Gloves, Hand sanitising, Appointments, Frame & Tool  Sterilisation, Extra Shop cleaning, wipe-downs...

(Although we can no longer insist on you wearing a mask...but please do!)

During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important for us to follow all guidelines set out by the Government, the NHS and the General Optical Council.

We are a "COVID-19 Safe" establishment, and we have installed & implemented various systems and procedures to keep our staff, families and customers as safe as possible, and have a full risk assessment available to view upon request.

We are operating on an appointment only basis to enable us to limit & control the number of people in store at any one time. When you book-online or over the phone, you will be asked a series of triage questions to make sure you are not/have not been unwell. Appointments are to be strictly adhered to with timings, and we ask that you shop alone, where possible. If this is not possible, then you may bring one person from your own household. We will be operating a locked door policy, so entry will be controlled and recorded for track and trace purposes. Desks / chairs and any contact items, such as Card machines / rulers will be cleaned and sanitised between patients. To enable us to do this, we have factored in a 5 minute buffer between appointments. To assist us in these times, we request that you turn up on time for your appointment.

When you arrive, please ring the doorbell, and a member of staff will let you in. likewise, once you are inside, the door will be locked, so, when leaving please allow the staff member to walk you out so they can unlock the door, and further reduce the contact with doors / handles.

You will be asked to wear a mask and sanitise your hands upon entry, (although we cannot enforce mask wearing)

If you do not have a mask, we can provide a TYPE IIR Disposable medical one for you, free of charge.

Please wear the mask properly, and if unsure, please ask. it needs to cover your mouth and nose, and should be a tight fit.

We respectfully ask that you wear a mask unless you have a medical/physical exemption, or you are just selfish and  just don't really care about other peoples' well being!!!

We do have protective screens in place, and whilst we are behind these, we will be wearing masks at all times. Visors are optional for our staff when behind the screens.  If we have to break the 1 meter rule, or make contact with you (eg. for adjustments / measurements) then we are required to wear medical grade Type IIR mask and single use disposable gloves, additionally, for those who are high risk, an apron and visor may be necessary, situation dependent.  There are certain scenarios where you may be asked to lower your mask, temporarily, for example, to check that the frame is sitting on your face properly, however, guidance will be given at the time if this is necessary.

So, what else are we doing differently, and what else have we put in place?

  • We have separate tools being used for each staff member,

  • We have individual work stations & PC's in place for each staff member instead of shared devices to reduce contact between staff members,

  • We have installed UV Sterilisers on each desk to sterilise frames and tools,

  • Desks / chairs and any contact items, such as Card machines / rulers will be cleaned and sanitised between patients,

  • Upon entry, you will be given a tray for use when trying on frames. To keep them sterile, we request that you place anything you touch into the tray so we can sterilise them,

  • Along with general guidance, our customer toilet facilities are currently not available,

  • We have de-cluttered the practice, so any unnecessary items have been removed, thus, reducing cleaning,

  • We have hand sanitiser pods at each desk, and at entry point to the building

  • The NHS track and trace QR code is on the front door, and inside the shop...please use it,

  • Our appointments are one-on-one,

  • We have increased our appointment times to allow for smoother service,

  • We may offer to carry out any minor repairs, while you wait in your car. We may do this in between appointments, so please be patient. Also, we will still need to take some details for Track & Trace purposes.
